My friend, a very proud Mama, sent over a note forwarding an email from the IAVA

My friend, whose son is caught in the hell of service who has spent his days "in country" putting those warriors back together so they could be sent back out to be shattered again so he could put them back together so they could be sent back out to be shattered again...There's just so much super glue, ya know?

Those warriors, young children actually, with eyes filled with age and pain and suffering - seeing more than we can even fathom.

My friend, whose son is fighting a second war - the war to end the war; The war that was started for greed and hubris - the war of lies and spineless ego of a creature who sits atop a hill and plays war games with his toys on a table, not caring that those toys on the table represent REAL, living breathing and bleeding youths who should be home with their girlfriends and boyfriends...planning that date on Saturday night

My friend, whose son is fighting a third war - the war to protect those who have fought and fallen...those who are hurt and injured and lost....trying to make them whole again but the money to provide their care isn't there.....

Now who is supporting the troops?

The people on the hill playing politics and espousing their patriotism as they pass more bills to spend billions of dollars for war machines that get lost or stolen and put off spending to treat those who must receive care after they have fought and fallen?

On November 4, 2006, I worked my final 5 hours (out of a 25 hour run in 4 days on tip of 10 hour work days) on the final "Call for Change" with thousands of other dedicated MOVEON.ORG members encouraging people to get out and vote. As a group in the final 4 days of the election, we made 7 million + calls to voters in states where there was a democrat challenging a conservative Republican for a House or Senate seat.
Our reasons:

The Iraq War - we were promised by the Dems they would get us out and bring our troops home
Healthcare - we were promised they would get us a better system enabling the middle class and the poor to get health benefits.
Environment - Another promise to work on the issue of Global Warming and assist in getting us away from oil dependence
Restoring Democracy - Probably one of the most important issues of this century -return the Constitution to the citizens. Give us back our rights and PROTECT AND DEFEND HER from enemies without and within.
