More Evidence of "Bushies" Burrowing

For several years now the evidence of the Alberto Gonzales gang's manipulation of the Federal Civil Service within the Department of Justice has been well publicized. The fact that right-wing political ideologues were being approved for career professional positions based on social issue orthodoxy, rather than competence and qualifications, is yet another blight on the scandalous legacy of the current occupant of the White House. Today's report in the Washington Post reveals that this practice of burrowing right-wing political operatives into the Civil Service is also in-place in the scientific agencies. Perhaps this is the mis-administration's strategy for making permanent the Republican obsession for combating the truth of science with their twisted political and social priorities. The Center for Public Integrity is soon to release their "Broken Government" study. The fund-raising teaser release promises 120 specific cases. This kind of investigative effort to hold the Bushies accountable as the mis-administration fades into oblivion is crucial. Revealing and acting on the depth and breadth of this conspiracy is vital to the success of any reforms and corrects to the offenses of the past eight years. The Obama-Biden Administration will be stretched and tested to uncover and flush-out these right-wing activists who have burrowed their way into the Civil Service like so many termites. The evidence of these infestations must be met with quick action. Executive appointees selected for positions above these people must be prepared to take every possible action within the laws and regulations of the Civil Service structure to either get them dismissed, or make it too hard for them to stay and accomplish their nefarious goals. Attention to the selection of the Administrator of the Office of Personnel Management will be a key to success in this area. Various Executive agency inspectors general must be supported in investigating these political opportunists. IF they are found to be substantially unqualified for the job description that they were hired to fill, then it should be clear grounds for dismissal as an unlawful appointment. The Obama-Biden appointees who are saddled with these burdens must enforce clear, precise and enforceable performance standards. When confronted with qualitative requirements to enforce and perform based upon laws and regulations that these infiltrators are likely to hold ambitions to undermine and avoid, could more easily force them to resign. Even in its demise the minions of the current mis-administration are appearing to be increasingly unwilling to follow the current occupant of the White House and the vice out of Washington. This certainly adds to the challenge and urgency of establishing the new administration's executive leadership. Too many months and too many acting, caretaker, leaders in the executive departments will make it all the harder to untangle the tentacles of the Bush parasites.

Green Jobs Now

Comments by Nelson Bock, of Colorado Interfaith Power and Light, on the need to support green jobs in a renewable energy economy.

I am pleased to represent Colorado Interfaith Power and Light, and the IPL movement which now has affiliates in 28 states, and whose mission is to mobilize the religious community to respond to the threat of climate change. I am here to support green jobs in a new energy economy, because it is our conviction that green jobs is not just an economic issue, and not just an environmental issue, but that it is also a profoundly spiritual issue. The earth, our home, is a sacred gift, the care of which we have been entrusted, and on which we live in a web of interdependent relationships. Living with reverence for that gift and those relationships is at the core of spirituality, and also the key to our survival and health as a human family. This is an issue that connects the health of our planet, the health of our people, and the health of our economy, because those things are all intrinsically connected in the larger scheme of things

The earth, our home, is in peril because of our excessive dependence on the fossil fuel economy we have built over the last two hundred years. Climate change, accelerated and exacerbated by greenhouse gases accumulating in the atmosphere as a result of human activity, threatens to severely disrupt the ecological balance which has supported human life, and the life of millions of other species with whom we share the earth. At the same time, human health is threatened by the emission of many other pollutants which foul not just the air, but the water and the land on which we likewise depend. And the health of our communities is threatened by economic dislocation and by the environmental destruction of public lands caused by ever more rapacious activities necessitated by the drive to seek and extract the last drops of fossil fuels wherever they may be found. These activities do not just damage landscape and wildlife habitat; they damage our spirits, as they increasingly estrange us from the earth, which we treat not as a living system of which we are a part, but as an inert depository of raw materials and a convenient repository for our waste. Further, these activities estrange us from one another, as exploitation of the earth's resources is based on exploitation of people and communities whose environment is despoiled and whose labor is treated as just another commodity, and who are then left to deal with the economic and environmental fallout when the resources are depleted.

What we are learning is that a healthy society--one in which people and communities are healthy and happy and secure-- is dependent on a healthy relationship to our environment. Yes, people need jobs, and that is why we are here today. But a job is not just a job. Work is an expression of the human spirit. The work we do also shapes our spirit, making us more or less healthy as we embody our relationship to the earth through our work. So what kind of jobs are going to give us healthy people, a healthy economy, and healthy communities? The kinds of jobs which preserve a healthy planet. Jobs which discover, create, and utilize renewable sources of energy, jobs which help us to conserve the earth's finite and precious resources. Jobs which are based on sustainable sources of energy and other natural resources. Jobs which create and promote alternative forms of transportation. Jobs which allow communities to be more self-sustaining and less dependent on global supply lines and the exploitation of the labor and resources of people from other parts of the world. Jobs which allow people to express and take pride in the dignity of their labor through a reverent and respectful use of the earth's resources, and which provide families with a living wage.

So we want to urge the people of Colorado and the United States to support candidates, initiatives, and policies which move us away from our unhealthy reliance on fossil fuels and towards green jobs in a green economy, for the health of our people, our communities, and our planet.

Palin Warning #1

Several email exposes regarding Sarah Palin have landed in my in-box. The most useful is the message from MoveOn.org (go to the extended Post Text).

I hope my mother, my wife and my teenage daughter will excuse this one - but, my initial reaction holds that McCain is having a post midlife crisis moment here. Now he gets to spend the rest of the campaign on stage with either a blonde or a brunette former beauty queen; sometimes both.

Considering the depth and experience available to him in the rest of the GOP universe I am completely baffled that there can be any other reason for this decision. I am now even more appreciative for the intelligent and practical decision by Barack Obama to grab Joe Biden as his VP running mate.

The supposed VP Debate won't be. With this line-up it is clear that candidate Palin will carefuly recite radical right wing talking points fed to her by the McCain handlers. Even if Biden were allowed in the format/rules to challenge her on any issues we'll hear nothing original.

Thus there could not be a more distinct choice between the two tickets. Looking at the "rap-sheet" provided by MoveOn, American voters can have no doubts of the radical and destructive policies and positions John McCain is accepting by filling the GOP ticket with Palin.

Conservative Attack on Local Law Enforcement

This story required a time delayed double-take when it appeared in a Denver paper this weekend (read once, put it aside in disbelief, and then read it again). The extended full story comes from the traditional mouthpiece of the GOP in Colorado Springs, the Gazette (go to the Extended Post Text).

Denver area readers didn't get to see El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa's full response. Also, it seems that the Gazette reporter and the Heritage Foundation comedian, James Carafano, have never read the National Response Plan (NRP - the Nation's real Homeland Security policy) and are totally out of touch when it comes to the concept of preparedness and local response.

One of my most memorable duties was to clear the way at Fort Carson for the Colorado National Guard to move the M-577 Armored Command Post vehicle that responded to the Columbine tragedy. Even that process took hours for authorization and travel time.

It is absolutely commendable that local law enforcement has found 52 missions for the vehicle. That proves to me that it is multi-functional and that El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies and Colorado Springs Police are fully trained to use it. In the horrible event of another large-scale hostage crisis I'm more confident that they are ready.

This is a disappointing piece of reporting that seems pre-disposed to criticize the cops. Rapid response by local first responders is a key factor in the NRP. There's no doubt in my mind that this BEAR could respond very quickly to any hostage or large-scale shooting incident between Pueblo and Fort Collins.

Trying to imply that this is a boondoggle and waste of Federal funds is irresponsible. Of course the new operators of the vehicle needed training. That's just being thorough and responsible. Mechanical adjustments for high altitude operations are far from design flaws.

Pity what Ms Zubeck and Mr. Carafano would have as comments for the hundreds of Modification Work Orders (MWOs) that are applied to US military vehicles of all types every year. Without a doubt this "BEAR" should be in Colorado Springs and not some Federal Depot waiting for FEMA to decide it's OK to use it for a state or local purpose.

Whining rats with no hair and one leg.

Phil Graham former Senator and current Economic advisor to Presidential candidate John Mc Cain, believes we're a nation of whiners. If he were a liberal he'd be accused of hating America. I wouldn't go that far but it does appears Graham hates Americans enough to call them whiners and tell us any economic woes we are experiencing are merely figments of our whining imagination. Can you blame him? After all, a complaint against our economy is a direct attack on the failure of the economic philosophy Graham and his conservative buddies worked so hard to build. He was instrumental in de-regulating the home mortgage industry himself. If you lost your home because you were duped into signing a flexible rate mortgage by being told you could re-do it later, you can thank conservative economics and Phil Graham personally.

Have we not come to such an impasse in the modern world that we must love our enemies - or else? The chain reaction of evil - hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars - must be broken, or else we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
(WAR = EVIL)

THIS IS MY FAVORITE ONE......

An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

NO I LIED....these next two are my favorite ones...... I so would go to jail if I had too!!!!

An individual who breaks a law that his conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

It is not enough to say we must not wage war. It is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

A man can't ride your back unless it's bent.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

A man who won't die for something is not fit to live.

Veterans as Guinea Pigs

There should be a top down investigation into how drug companies are bending, if not breaking, ethical rules on human studies testing of new drugs. If drug company officials are liable then they should be criminally prosecuted for their use of dangerous drugs that harm their unknowing human subjects. Withholding information on such side effects is outside the boundaries of human subject testing. Congress should begin investigations immediately especially with the use of our veterans for such studies is simply wrong. Brian Ross and Vic Walter, ABC News journalists, write : Mentally distressed veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan are being recruited for government tests on pharmaceutical drugs linked to suicide and other violent side effects, an investigation by ABC News and "The Washington Times" has found... "This didn't justify an emergency warning at that level," said Dr. Miles McFall, co-administrator of the VA study... Dr. McFall says the VA decided to continue the Chantix study because "it would be depriving our veterans of an effective method of treatment to help them stop smoking." Caplan, one of the country's leading medical ethicists, said he was stunned by the VA's decision to continue the Chantix experiment. In order to make a profit the drug companies are willing to place veterans in harm's way. This is immoral and the study using our Iraq and Afghanistan veterans should be halted immediately. The people who run the Veterans Administration should safe guard our veterans and not place them in danger for the bottom line of drug companies. Our men and women who have served our country should not be our drug companies frontline human experiments.

The Last _____ of President Bush

I was listening to yesterday's news about the current occupant of the White House on his farewell tour of Europe. This phrase was used by the reporter in the form of, "The last visit to Europe by President Bush."

I realized that this is a very positive development. I'm looking for more "lasts" of anything and everything for the coWH. The case against the mis-administration regarding Iran is particularly damaging.

It's clear that since entering office that the coWH has acted against the best interests of the United States on relations and policies towards Iran; the jumbled focus of his European tour sound bite script. Rather than advancing the best interests of the US, the current mis-administration has consistently played to the advantage of Ahmadi-Nejad and the ruling Iranian radicals.

My american dreams comming ALIVE!

Ok seriously now... Everyone needs to stop with the "what are you doin this friday" and "lets go party" or "hey did you see american Idol last night" WHO THE HELL CARES. Honestly, am I the only one out of all my friends and family who DOESNT want the world to be destroyed because I didnt take a stand and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT? You people need to stop worrying about you hair, nails, make-up, cloths, cars, money, and the pointless things you and your friends did last night while you were drunk. WAKE UP PEOPLE. The world is going to shit. You were all put here for a reason, and that reason is not to sit around and play video games or write new blogs about what guy/girl you like. You are here to make a difference in the world. You are here to fight for something you believe in. The USA will have another incident just like 9/11 and then the government will blame it on the so-called "terrorists" and we will be in a permanant state of lock-down. They will slowly start incarcerating poeple who dont do EXACTLY what is told of them, and the rest of you will be like robots walking around with even less freedoms than we have now. My Grandpa fought for my freedoms a long time ago and now we are losing them. Our Constitution is being changed by legislatures and the media is telling you things like, Mariah Carey got married, or Heath Ledger died. They are distracting us from what IS REALLY IMPORTANT. They are keeping what really is going on a secret from us. Most americans are ignorant, most of them will listen to ANYTHING fox news has to say and they dont try to think for them selves. GOD GAVE YOU BRAINS, USE THEM! Go outside of the american media if you want to know the truth about whats going on in the world. There are still people in the US that believe the twin towers and tower 7 collapsed because of the heat from the fire... OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE, FIRE CANT MELT STEELE DUH!!! They lied to us, and they are still lieing to us. Check up on H.R.BILL1955... Its scary people. Or perhaps you all should read up on the 9/11 reports, they are quite interesting themselves. People say that I may be crazy, or a consiracy theorist, but its not insanity that drives me, its knowledge and pure COMMEN SENCE.

Wake up america, we are not in IRAQ HELPING ANYONE!!! We are killing people, and our brave american soldiers BEING KILLED. Not matter what race, religion, or political background you have.... there is NO EXCUSE FOR KILLING GODS CREATURES. You can go ahead and listen to whatever LIARS are tellin you good is comming out of being in Iraq but you know in your heart KILLING DOESNT SOLVE ANYTHING! WAR DOESNT SOLVE ANYTHING!!! Swallow your PRIDE AND ADMIT THAT WAR IS WRONG IN ANY ASPECT. Now it would be different if the iraqi people were bombing us or DID ANYTHING TO US AT ALL, BUT THEY DIDNT. Bush himselfe even said in a press confrence that going to Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Tell me how the hell we go from, being in Iraq because of 9/11, to "they have uranium", to "they have WMD's", to "they are hiding al-queda terrorists" to "we are helping the Iraqi people? WTF? Thats FIVE different times OUR CRAPY president has changed the reason for being in Iraq... Im sorry but my ignorance doesnt run that deep, Im not stupid enough to believe those lies. WE ARE THERE FOR OIL. All you people buying those gas guzzling vehicles may as well be over there killing Iraqi babies yourself. Be informed people, dont stand by and let our government take control of us. Inform yourselves of how many oil wells President Bush owns in Texas alone and then tell me he isn't there for oil.

Just sit there and wait until something else happens, wait til the new world order is put in place... Its a scary thing, but theres still time people, we can still make a differece just like they did in the 50's and 60's. We can take a stand and take AMERICA BACK!!!! Someone once told me I have no american pride, at first I thought perhaps they are right.... now more than ever I see that they were wrong. I have more american pride than anyone who claims I have non because of my beliefs. Im the one who wants to keep america free, and do the right things, stop the killings, and stop the money hungry evel people (bush). Just because I dont believe killing people is right, DOESN'T mean Im not proud to be an american. I am proud for what my Grandfather fought for when the american people REALLY were in danger. When we really were fighting for OUR freedoms as humans. Though I am not proud of what america is doing right now, I am proud to be an american and proud to be thrusting after my american dream... TO MAKE THINGS BETTER IN THE WORLD.

Active denial weapon or Ray gun

On 60 Minutes tonight showed the actual use of a "ray gun" that is "non lethal" to disperse groups of people. What was most interesting is that the Army volunteers who were subjected to the weapon in tests carried signs of "Peace" and "Stop War" which leaves one to believe that this weapon is not for our external enemies but for domestic "consumption" by law enforcement agencies. As I previously wrote about " A New Tool for Torture " and in combination with this weapon would effectively prevent mass demonstrations of any type in the United States that is deemed a "threat" to domestic tranquility. This is the reality that people in the United States will be effectively prevented from exercising their 1st Amendment rights: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. The 21st Century is here and with it the technological means to end mass demonstrations by a government of any type.

It can ALWAYS be worse....

I wasn't goofing off because it was a holiday weekend, I swear! JUST as I was patting myself on the back last Friday evening for being almost caught up, I noticed I was suddenly awfully congested in my chest. As though it had been booked for a tour by Bronchitis and the Wheezers, the atonal faux-accordion-pop group.
So I was mainly in bed from then until noon or so today. Thank goodness for my trusty laptop, which not only let me keep up virtually with the big world, but is warm and comforting to cuddle when you are sore from coughing.
Could have been worse, of course. In a funny co-incidence, as I was looking over the blogs I read on Wednesdays I found this article on Damn Interesting.com about The Heroes of SARS. It's an excellent overview of the epidemic from start to finish, showing how some things that are often politicized worked RIGHT for once. There's even a whistle-blower who got listened to! And not stomped on later!
By the way, if anyone is interested in ancient history, I did a write-up on my personal experiences and views of the State Assembly and Convention.
  First part of Friday
  Second part, Friday

Seeds in Svalbard: Your Pork Belly Future?

Senator McCain thinks the effort to preserve our horticultural record and a potential treasure trove for medicinal science is a waste of money.

This morning, I went to Senator McCain’s town hall meeting at the Jewish Community Center in Denver. The Rocky Mountain News made it sound as if I was part of some sneaky infiltration:

"The mainstream media has basically given McCain a free ride so far by not asking him tough questions," wrote Michael Huttner, president of ProgressNow. "So it’s important for citizens to ask those questions ourselves."
The group became concerned, however, when the McCain campaign switched from an online reservation system to one that required people to RSVP by telephone.
Alan Franklin, a ProgressNow member, made reservations first online and then called to make sure he and his wife and a friend were on the list. [ link and emphasis added]
Franklin discovered that the online system had been taken down. When he asked why, he said he was told there was a concern about "some group."
But, actually, I wasn’t there with "some group"--on the other hand, I went in as a swing voter. I honestly felt that I could go either way in this election. While I didn’t agree with all of his platform, I sort of liked McCain. He was moderate and charming. I’d heard Obama and Clinton each speak last summer , and while they were likable, they hadn’t necessarily won me over. I was keeping an open mind.
I’d seen McCain speak, once before, too. That was when he made such a charming impression on me. "Colorado, I’ve come for your water!" he declared as he came on stage. The crowd roared with an amused chorus of boos. Of course, that time, he spoke in between Ann Coulter and George W. Bush; most likely anyone would have sounded charming placed in between the Wicked Witch of the East and Mr. Nuk-yuh-ler.
So I was a bit tickled this morning when the senator from arid Arizona started off by joking about the water again. This time, he was a little more gracious. "Thank you for the water," he said, "thank you, thank you thank you." Then he complained that California had been stealing some. It was a good opener... it brought a good chuckle, and showed concern about preserving our precious liquid resources.
Then he blew it for me.

The Sixtieth Annual Conference on World Affairs University of Colorado at Boulder April 7– 11, 2008 The Conference on World Affairs was founded in 1948, originally as a forum on international affairs. CWA expanded rapidly to encompass the arts, media, science, diplomacy, technology, environment, spirituality, politics, business, medicine, human rights, and so on. Roger Ebert, who holds a record of thirty-seven consecutive years of participation in the CWA, refers to the event as “the Conference on Everything Conceivable.” Each April, 110 participants representing a wide range of backgrounds gather in Boulder—a beautiful college town at the foot of the Rocky Mountains—for what The New York Times calls “a week-long extravaganza of discussion and debate” on over 200 non-academic, interdisciplinary panels, plenaries and performances. Conference participants discuss issues on an impromptu basis—a refreshing alternative to the specialized gatherings of academia and the business world. Molly Ivins, a frequent participant over 25 years, wrote that CWA offers “whole new ways of looking at old questions and information that can transform the way you look at things.”

Did the PNA staff really Censor an April Fools joke about Udall supporting impeachment? Is the joke on PNA's Staff this time?

I posted a brief note here stating that Udall was supporting impeachment which linked to a page on our website
that just said "April Fool".

It was censored and deleted. This is not the first time the PNA staff has deleted postings which made comments about Udall that they did not like.

Is PNA's staff losing it's sense of humor or is only their version of progressive speech allowable on this website?

Is this organization really progressive if they censor opposing views?

What do you think?

WiFi for the country folk and one other item

I think that this is great for rural folk who are out of luck for broadband. Intel has come up with a way for WiFi to reach 100km (60 miles) at a useable 6.5/mBps. From Techworld.com (h/t to Dailykos.com) John E. Dunn writes : This is to be more than a lab engineer’s daydream and has been field tested in India, Panama, Vietnam and South Africa. The technology is innovative on a number of levels. It works using a point-to-point design, which automatically lowers cost to a quoted region of $500-$1,000 (£250-£500) for a single connection – way below rival systems such as cable broadband or satellite. Once terminated at the remote location, the connectivity it provides could be distributed using off-the-shelf Wi-Fi hardware. It is also low-power, using around five to six watts for a system with three radios in a link, making it possible to power it during the day from solar power or by battery during the night. Now rural populations won't have to rely upon expensive satellite/cable delivery or slow dialup service. The other item is that the conventional media narrative of presidential candidates Obama and Clinton is that it will go down to the convention because they are evenly divided. (BTW-on a personal note- there was a very strong visual showing for Hillary at the Denver County Assemby that there were at least a hundred sign wavers for Clinton; yet the numbers did not bear out the visuals in the final tally- 68% Obama- 32% Clinton.) Dailykos.com writer DHinMI: It's been clear to some of us for over a month that the race was over . The Politico article covers some of what we've been talking about for some time, that by just about any measure the race is decided, and that the only way Clinton can win is for Obama to be destroyed and for her to benefit from his destruction. Media must sell papers or viewers: That's right, reporters and editors are unable-- or unwilling --to report the race accurately because they're having too much fun, and maybe even making too much money. For those who support Hillary this should be a sobering moment in the campaign cycle. Why? Politico reports that a number of Hillary campaign operatives believes that: " One important Clinton adviser estimated to Politico privately that she has no more than a 10 percent chance of winning her race against Barack Obama, an appraisal that was echoed by other operatives." Johnathon Singer, MyDD.com, writes : Now I'm not one to say that Clinton should drop out because it's nearly mathematically impossible for her to reach the magic number of 2,025. If she wants to stay in the race, I believe she certainly has the right. Yet at the same time, if her key campaign staff understands what the situation is -- that she has, at best, a 10 percent shot at the nomination now, as they put it -- is it really worth it to try to so tarnish the candidate who has the remaining 90 percent shot at the nomination while at the same time bolstering John McCain's national security credentials ? The people that I talked to at the multi-county assembly were appalled at the tactics of fear and race baiting that Clinton used, especially Ferraro's comments and the 3 A.M. ad. For the Wright "controversy" The Left Coaster writer Turkana, who is a Clinton supporter, states : But Obama did know of Wright's views. And despite those views, Obama had a close personal relationship with Wright for twenty years. Wright married the Obamas. Wright baptized their children. Wright inspired the title of Obama's book. And I wouldn't be reminding you of any of this had the Obama campaign not made a stupid and sleazy attempt to spill some of their own political garbage onto the Clintons. Talking with Afro Americans and what is the value of the church to their community and one aspect stands out: From the day to day frustrations, insults and belittlement that the black Americans must take from white American power establishment can be vented in their church. Understand the ideas behind the words and know that Rev. Wright's words come from the reality of Two Americas- One Black and One White. Remember that the "controversy" of Obama/Wright is seen by many as nothing more then another example fo the hypocrisy of White America with respect to the fact that Minister Huckabee was never challenged to show his sermons from the pulpit during his campaign. Now why do you think that? Is it because he was white and Republican? It is time for the party leaders and elders to tell Senator Clinton to stop the politics of destruction for the good of this nation and the party.

Benson + CU, Could Have Seen it Coming

Two things strike me as important lessons following the GOP coup of elevating Bruce Benson to CU President: that this could have been foreseen in the GOP indignation to removing BB from the Metro State Board, and that this is the price Colorado pays for GOP dominance of any governing board like the CU Regents. The end result remains that Colorado has reduced the CU President from being a distinguished post for an accomplished leader in high education to an opportunistic prize for a marketing driven and profit focused political activist.

Every Congressional District nominating assembly/convention must take a closer look at candidates for CU Regent. Removing the GOP Regents currently representing districts of Democratic members of the US Congress should now receive higher priority. The holder of a CU Regent's seat does matter.

A Nasty Little Secret About the Democratic Party From a Democratic Insider

Fellow Democrats, I am very, very concerned. I think that, if we don't properly handle our nomination process over the next month, we could lose ALL of the support and good will gained with voters since 2006.

The issue that could undo us involves the Super Delegates to the national convention, and the Cognitive Dissonance they may create.

Before I go further, let me tell you about my background. I was an elected county party secretary from 2000 - 2002. I was a member of both county and state central and executive committees. I also ran for the state senate.

Now, let me tell you all a secret.
