"The Democrats are trying very hard to show ... that they're not going to re-open these issues and that the Bush crimes will remain buried for all time," Turley told MSNBC's Keith Olbermann on Tuesday. "It would start a new administration on the same level that George Bush left it. And that's a very sad thing."
"Turley was particularly concerned about a recent statement by law professor Cass Sunstein, an Obama adviser, that only "egregious" crimes by Bush officials should be prosecuted by an Obama administration."
"There are very few obligations that a president has to do under the Constitution, but one of them is not to violate the laws that he is supposed to enforce," explained Turley.
Turley further pointed to Speaker Nancy Pelosi's refusal to initiate impeachment proceedings against the president, saying, "I don't understand why some Democrats can't just simply accept a very straightforward proposition, that we'll prosecute any crimes committed by this administration, an Obama administration, a McCain administration. Because they're crimes. They're all egregious."

During the week of November 5, Dennis J. Kucinich will introduce on the floor of the House of Representatives a bill to impeach Vice President Cheney(H Res 333). Exercising his right of personal privilege, his courageous act will put members of the House on record. Are they going to fulfill their oath of office to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic or just look the other way?
Our nation and our Constitution are in crisis!
You and your neighbors can make a difference!
Call all of our Colorado Congressmen/women TODAY!
Find a list of phone and fax numbers and staff names here.
TELL COLORADO's CONGRESSMEN/WOMEN
to Vote to debate Impeaching Cheney
Tell them "No Campaign Donations, Votes or Volunteering until after they vote to debate Impeachment on the floor of the full House". They were elected to Stop The Iraq War and get accountability for Bush and Cheney. They haven't delivered on their promises. That they do not have the Votes IS A LIE. It only takes a simple majority in the House to Impeach. Cheney will resign before it leaves the House.
Pelosi's plan to pass a few popular bills and embarass Bush is only wasting time and getting soldiers killed and maimed.
Impeachment is the Only bill that Bush by law cannot veto and the Supreme Court cannot overturn.

MoveOn's Petition to: Stop Executive Overreach
MoveOn has distributed this Petition to tell Congress
to demand answers by Subpoena from the Bush administration
about the Iraq war and their illegal spying program, and not back down,
to hold Vice President Cheney in contempt of Congress
and send over the police if necessary,
And if that doesn't work, Impeach the guy.
Well done MoveOn, count me in and tell me what I can do get more Americans to sign this petition.
I hope all MoveOn members will sign this petition now! And have a Great Fourth Of July.
Dear MoveOn member,
You've probably seen the news this morning: President Bush let Cheney aide Scooter Libby, the one man who was convicted for the lies around the Iraq war, go free. Paris Hilton served more jail time than he will.
Bush and Cheney think their administration is above the law. That's un-American, and this July 4th it's time for Congress to re-assert its constitutional authority and
top the administration's obstruction of justice.
Congress can start until they get them. Cheney won't testify? Subpoena him. He won't come? Hold him in contempt of Congress and send over the police.
And if that doesn't work, impeach the guy.
We just can't let President Bush and his administration dismantle our Constitution.
This July 4th, it's time to bring checks and balances back again. Click here to sign the petition and send a message to Congress to act now (the text of the petition is in the box to the right):
Link
Then please send this message to your friends, family, and others who would be interested. This issue has everyone outraged--only 32 percent of Republicans agree with the president's decision.
This isn't just about the Bush administration, of course. Law is determined through precedent. If Congress doesn't rein the Bush administration in, it'll change the rules for every administration that comes after.
And letting Libby off the hook is only the most recent example of a consistent Bush administration pattern of obstruction of justice.
When their illegal program of warrantless wiretapping was revealed, the Bush administration refused to answer subpoenas from Congress to testify about what, precisely, they were doing. When Attorney General Alberto Gonzales--the nation's highest law-enforcement officer--testified in front of Congress under oath, he lied and said the program didn't exist.2
And in retrospect, it's clear what Bush meant when he said this about the Plame case back in 2003: "[I]f there is a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is. And if the person has violated law, the person will be taken care of."3 Last night, Bush certainly took care of Scooter Libby.
On Sunday, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Pat Leahy said he would hold Cheney and others in the administration in contempt of Congress if they refused to directly answer questions. Members of Congress are asserting their authority and standing up.
But they need to know the American people are behind them. Can you take a moment to click this link and send that message right now?
Link
As they say in civics class, America is a country of laws, not of men. It's time for Congress to stand up and use them.
Let's celebrate Independence Day by reaffirming the basic, founding idea of our government: No one, not even the president of the United States , is above the law.
Thanks for all you do.

Something for patriots to do in Denver on July Fourth
All of you who are outraged at the un-Constitutional actions of Libby, Cheney, and Bush should show up at Colorado's longest running Impeachment Rally on July 4th at 5 pm at Colfax & Broadway in Denver.
This event is part of a Colorado Impeachment effort that has been quietly taking place twice a week since Jan 23rd. We have held at least two impeachment events each week in Denver. Join us. Link
We will have signs. You may bring you own. Just show up to show your love of Country. Now is the time to come to the defense of your Constitution and Laws. Cheney, Libby and Bush's Neocons will literally get away with murdering 3,500 US soldiers over Cheney's WMD lies. Don't let them get away with it. Show your outrage. Show up.
Perhaps we may yet prove to Denver's Corporate Media that the Voters Last Resort "Impeachment" is not off the table. Cheney is very vulnerable to Impeachment.
Call 800-828-0498 and tell all of Colorado's Congressmen to become a Co-Sponsor on US Rep Kucinich's Impeach Cheney Bill H Res 333.and if you can find the time, Call All Of the Country's Congessmen to do the Same.
This last week Kucinich's Impeach Bill picked up more Co-Sponsors... It Will Happen.
The Democrats will not be able to ignore Impeachment because of the revelations of un-Constitutional actions by Cheney will come out. They will look like fools if they don't Impeach, and lose in November 2008.
Please Vote to Impeach in the National Cheney Impeachment Poll at

Wednesday at the State Capital should be about WMD lies and which Party got us into this mess in Vietnam... oops ... Iraq
The Colo. GOP's unquestioning support for the Bush-Cheney,
Iraq War Of WMD Lies, is hurting only the GOP
The GOP says it will destroy Troop Morale but
Dems say watch the Morale go up when the troops come home.
In November the Voters said change direction on the Iraq War... the GOP is balking. GOP legislators would be wise to get on board now or suffer at the polls.
Oh what a day Wednesday will be at the State Capital at Colfax and Lincoln..
Protesters on Lincoln in front of the Capital and anti War activists and other citizens inside the building in the hearing demanding the troops come home now.
Thanks to a timely email from Alan Franklin,
we were able to read a buch of todays newspaper articles dealing with the hearing on Wed, Mar 14 on State Senator Tupa's Resolution, State Joint Memorial #2, which Call On Congress To Stop The Escalation Of The Iraq War and not send an additional 21,000 plus toops there.
According to the Pueblo Chieftain, "Romanoff and House Majority Leader Alice Madden, D-Boulder, said the memorial focuses on an issue of great importance to the American people, and is nothing like the partisan resolutions Republicans have run in the past, such as those honoring late Republican President Ronald Reagan". Link
The Rocky Mountain News quotes Senate President Joan Fitz- Gerald as saying "it is relevant for the legislature to debate the resolution because of the war's financial impact". I'm guessing that she is not only referring to the gazillions blown by the Feds but also the cost to the State of Colorado because of equipment shortages to our National Guard units here.
The Post also quoted her as saying "it's sucking all the dollars out of Washington, D.C.," said Fitz-Gerald, D-Coal Creek Canyon".
The Colorado Daily News says State Sens. Ron Tupa, D-Boulder, and Ken Gordon, D-Denver, are the Senate sponsors of Senate Joint Memorial (SJM) 07-002, with its purpose summarized as "memorializing Congress and the President to stop the escalation of the war in Iraq." House Majority Leader Alice Madden, D-Boulder and Rep. Terrance Carroll, D-Denver, are carrying 002 on the House side while 12 Democrat senators have signed on as co-sponsors. ( ?? Anyone know who the 12 Senate Dems are?)
The Colorado Daily News said 002 will get a hearing next Wednesday in the State, Veterans and Military Affairs committee at 1:30 p.m.
According to the Colorado Daily News Tupa said "But the reason I think it's important is because as state after state joins this national effort, it really does build momentum to encourage the President and the Congress to change the direction of this war".
According to todays Rocky Mountain News Online Poll, which asked this question: Should the U.S. House of Representatives vote to pull American combat troops out of Iraq by September, 2008?
53%, Said YES and 43% Said No Link
In the Rocky Talk Live with Mark Wolf, a blog on the Rocky Mountain News by midday there were over 50 comments on the Senate Resolution.

GOP vows 'ugly turn' if Dems push Iraq debate
Link
Republicans and Democrats took shots at each other Thursday over a legislative debate set next week on the troop buildup in Iraq. Republican leaders vowed that the second half of the session, which starts next week, will take "a very ugly turn" if Democrats decide to debate a resolution that supports the troops but says the war has hurt the nation on several fronts. It also calls for troops to be phased out of Iraq. Rep. Mike May, of Parker, and Sen. Andy McElhany, of Colorado Springs, called the resolution and the rare scheduling of a committee hearing to consider it a "shameful political stunt." "That resolution isn't going to bring the troops home, nor is it going to solve transportation, health care, education or alternative energy," May said. "What is the point of it?" But House Majority Leader Alice Madden countered that if lawmakers can make time to debate Republican resolutions honoring economist Milton Freidman and President Reagan, they should be able to discuss the "No. 1 issue in our country."

The Colo. GOP's unquestioning support for the Bush-Cheney,
Iraq War Of WMD Lies, is hurting only the GOP
The GOP says it will destroy Troop Morale but
Dems say watch the Morale go up when the troops come home.

We had a little fun with 'Foxy' the fox today... NO, not That Kind of Fun!
We heard that Frontier was doing a Campaign Interview style promo for the 'Foxy' Frontier's Favorite Animal at the Civic Center today across from the City Hall. So we thought this would be great test of our Concept of Instant Vigils.
We flew downtown and did a 'one indian' to their 'circle the wagons' maneuver. The media types applauded my arrival but grumbled later when they had trouble getting a shot without our signs in the background.
Our sign on one side said.
Call Foxy and tell her to
Stop the Iraq War
and impeach Bush
and on the other side
Call Foxy and say
Stop the War and
impeach Bush.
Amazing the amount of eyeballs these signs got.
It was Fun...
you all shoulda been there.
Maybe next time, eh! Join Us.
Impeachment can be fun.

is having a MeetUp 7 pm TONIGHT at the Hooked On Colfax Coffee House (w/ Free Wifi ) at 3215 East Colfax Ave, Denver. Anyone interested in the possibility of holding Bush and Cheney accountable for their crimes is welcome to join us. We believe that we can put enough public pressure on our US Representatives we might be able to cause a Bill of impeachment. ( Yes..especially the Democrats we elected... the ones who dissed Bush/Cheney so, who now are Congressmen who have the power to Impeach).
We are doing two weekly vigils so far, one on
">Link
Wednesdays at Noon at the State Capital in Denver and on Link
Thursdays at Noon at US Rep. DeGette's Denver Office at East 6th & Grant. The purpose of the Wednesday and Thursday Vigils is to attract the attention of our State Legislature. our two Daily Newspapers, and the public. We hope that someone in the Legislature will carry a bill to ask the US House to begin proceedings on Impeachment (as New Mexico's Democrats are doing).
We hope the newpapers will consider that if Bill Clinton can be brought up on Impeachment for lying about sex... then perhaps the more serious offense of lying to Congress ( and Voters) just before a vote on War Resolution should require the same journalistic attention.
We hope the public will begin to see that this ( lying to Congress) is a more serious matter even than the Iraq War itself (if that is possible). The previous 'do nothing' Republican Congress was not much of a check on Bush's Imperial ambitions and our current Democratic Congress' Leadership would like to ignore impeachment and 'move on 'as they say, and hope it just goes away. What they are trying to ignore is the fact that all of Bush's lies and Signing Statements add up to a huge expansion of Presidential Power. We need to protect our grandchildren from the future Imperial excesses of the next President RunAmuck, regardless of which party they come from.
We need to put the Fear Of Impeachment into all future presidential candidates.
Bush doesn't think the Congress will call his bluff and impeach him, so he will push his supposed 'powers' to the limit. Democratic leaders in the House and Senate are kidding themselves if they think he will back off. And even if he does, shouldn't he be held accountable for lying to Congress about a War resolution in the first place... to prevent this from recurring? And about the 700 plus Signing Statements. Saying he will ignore US Laws, after taking an Oath to Uphold them.
I'll stop now....
See you tonight at Hooked On Colfax,
and Wed. at the Capital,
and Thursday at DeGette's Office
PS... We've already started getting Push Back, from Democrats no less, about Vigiling in front of DeGette's Office. Why her they say... Well.. she is in a 'safe' seat, she now has powerful positions on very important Congressional Committees. She Can support this without endangering her re-election far more than other Democratic US Reps.
As a lifelong Democrat, I've voted for DeGette in every election and carried signs for her and probably will do so in the future. I think she is Super. However, I think she and all the other Democratic Reps will duck Impeachment if we let them. We will Vigil at other Colorado US Representative's offices as soon as we have the volunteers (all of them).
join us.

Helo- If there is really anyone out there in blogland! - I cannot imagine why someone whould log in, but I may be surprised. This is my first blogging attempt and in it I want to strongly urge any readers to please get involved in your local issues. Politics is not dirty, just neglected. Alamosa has strong party meetings monthly, please consider going to one. If you have not selected a party to join, go to a meeting of each and decide which fits you best. You may be a conservative, reasonable Republican who can join her/his local party to help reform it nationally at the top!!
