Email Bill Berens (R-Broomfield, HD33) and tell him to do his homework before spouting off in his anger. He was quoted in the Broomfield Enterprise this morning claiming that the anti-immigrant initiative rejected by the Colorado Supreme Court would save money on expenses expressly allowed by the initiative.
Uh, Bill...the initiative wouldn't save any of those costs. It only affects non-emergency services not otherwise required by Federal law. Education, emergency healthcare and prision are all required by Federal law. Bill reminds us of the old Chinese saying, "it is better to remain silent and have everyone think you a fool, than open it and remove all doubt."

"We could look at prisons, emergency room services, or every illegal child that costs $5,000 to $10,000 a year to go to school," Berens said. "The list goes on and on. Those are dollars that could be spent on hardworking Colorado taxpayers."
