How Does It Work?
Smoke a joint. Don't smoke schwag.
Yeah, right. You just want to turn me into a pothead.
No...this is about stupidity. There's 8,000 years of evidence of it's most excellent properties. Most people that have objections about using marijuana have never smoked it. They rely on information that has been debunked and even ridiculed. Marijuana is legal in Denver and it's not addicting so go ahead, spark one up. You won't be stupid anymore.
Pot makes you lazy and stupid.
Ahhhh...that's why I want you to smoke a joint. I don't want you to be a liar on top of being stupid. Only lazy people and specific corporations say it makes you lazy and we have proof that marijuana plays a crucial part in our ability to think.

That's news to me but it still has all those bad things that go into your lungs that cause cancer.
OK, I'll let you use a vaporizer but your stupidity is showing. Marijuana doesn't cause cancer. The Jamica Study (done by people looking for the bad effects of marijuana) found out that you will extend your life several years beyond national average and keep you healthier all of your life. THC injected directly into the brain, breast, or lymph tumors wil shrink those tumors to the point that the cancer is gone. Are all those women racing from the cure?

The government has been against it since 1937 so they must have some compelling reason to keep it illegal.
As a matter of fact they do. It's called money.
Marijuana eliminates petroleum as a fuel.
Marijuana eliminates most of the poisonous petrochemicals.
Marijuana eliminated the paper/timber industry.
Marijuana eliminates 200 of the best selling pharmacueticals.
Marijuana treats and cures too many diseases.
Marijuana makes 50,000 commercial products.
These people have all the money in the world and will use every penny of it to stop the competition that marijuana poses.

-Both contain tar and carcinogens (comparable levels are disputable due to amount of smoke consumed per joint, a couple of drags, or cigarette, an entire cancer stick)
-Nicotine helps cancerous cells to survive and multiply even when our bodies would normally try to kill the mutated cells.
-THC has been shown numerous times to halt the growth of tumors or even decrease the size of cancerous growths.
This has left me to believe that Pot does not increase the risk of lung cancer as smoking tobacco does and my even reduce the risk of lung cancer.
Of course this is all moot if you use a vaporizer or eat pot brownies (yum yum).
In response to your letter, Marijuana hasn't been proven to cause lung cancer. On the other hand, Tobacco has been linked to lung cancer. My opinion is that it may not be tobacco specificly, but any of the 30 or so chemicals which are added to cigarettes and other tobacco products. Marijuana is atleast 100% organic (no chemical additives) so maybe the focus isn't the product itself but the government involment and why these chemicals are allowed to poison the people there sold to.
Marijuana cures cancer.
All humans produce THC.
I guess this story is about you.

We could go with the fact that THC has been used for a few milennia in all kinds of things; oil, wine, and seasoning were a few from the turn of the Ages.
Hemp was the most used plant for rope, cloth and all kinds of material here until the Cotton Plantation owners forced a banning law to get their competition out of the way.
Even Tobacco was used by the Native Americans in sacred ritual with no ill effect.
However, once we "civilized" people got ahold of it and used it to our fullest greedy capacity - TB and lung cancer were found to be induced.
Huh. I must say, if we lived in an "all things in moderation" society, maybe we wouldn't have cancer at all. Instead we live in a fast-paced, eat it up and spit it out, go-Go-GO! world - no wonder we're so riddled with diseases.
Let's go eat some THC food - it's not just for brownies! Use a vaporizer, a water pipe or a good ole joint. Slow down for a minute and have a good hard thinking session on whatever tickles your fancy. You might live a little longer just from that.
Marijuana has been used for food, clothing, medicine, recreation, and spirituality for over 8000 years. 99.99% of what you have been told and sold about this wonderful plant was a LIE.
There are several articles about marijuana, its history, and studies done on the plant at Link
The title of your blog is Marijuana Cures Stupidity, but can stupidity be cured? “Stupidity is the quality or condition of being stupid or lacking intelligence” (“Stupidity”). In general, stupidity is a point of view of someone’s level of intelligence. Due to the fact that stupidity is a point of view, it is not curable, which refutes the title of your blog. You started this blog stating that marijuana cures stupidity because you suggested that marijuana plays a crucial part in our ability to think. As a matter of fact it does. According to the DEA, heavy marijuana use impairs the ability of young people to retain information, as well as concentrate (“Marijuana Is Harmful”). Marijuana use has also shown to be associated with poor academic performance. Infofacts stated that long-term use of marijuana may lead to “Amotivational Syndrome,” in which students are unmotivated to achieve their academic goals (“Infofacts Resource”). So where did you, being the creator of the blog, find such information proving that marijuana enhances your thinking ability? You put a link next to your statement suggesting that is where you got the information. If the reader clicks on the link, he or she is directed to a site that discusses how marijuana may prevent the bird flu epidemic. There is nothing on the link that states that marijuana enhances your ability to think. Putting a false source typically means there was no source in general. Because there is no source of information for your statement, it is most likely to be a false opinion.
You also stated that Marijuana is not addicting. Actually, it is: each year more teenagers enter treatment with marijuana dependence than for all other illicit drugs combined (“Marijuana Use among Teens”). 60 percent of teenagers admitted for drug treatment stated that marijuana is their primary drug of choice. Marijuana is addicting, and multiple studies were taken to prove it. 358,000 teenagers between the ages of 12 and 17 began using marijuana every day in 2002 (“Marijuana Addiction”). That’s well over the total population of St.Paul, MN. In addition to the statistics, US scientists conducted experiments that prove that marijuana is as addictive as cocaine and heroine. The National Institute on Drug Abuse trained four monkeys to give themselves shots of cocaine. The monkeys did this by pressing a lever ten times after a green light was turned on in their chamber. When saline was given instead of cocaine, the monkeys stopped pressing the lever. When the saline was substituted for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active ingredient in cannabis, the monkeys quickly started to press the lever again. (“BBC News”). Dr. Steven Goldberg, A scientist of the US National Institute on Drug Abuse, stated “This is the first clear demonstration that the active ingredient in marijuana has the same potential for abuse that other drugs such as heroin and cocaine do” (“BBC News”).
You also suggested that marijuana does not cause cancer; this is not true. Marijuana contains more than 400 harmful chemicals, including carcinogens (“Information on Marijuana and Hashish”). When smoking a joint (cigarette) of marijuana, hundreds of chemical compounds enter the body directly affecting the brain as well as damaging the nervous system (“Information on Marijuana and Hashish”). The US already has so much evidence with the connection of tobacco and cancer. Marijuana smoke has most of the same chemicals and carcinogens as tobacco, which are in greater concentration. Also, marijuana smoke is inhaled deeper into the lungs, and is held there about four times as long. As a result, these toxic chemicals and carcinogens in marijuana smoke can do much more damage than in tobacco smoke (“Information on Marijuana/Hashish”). We all know tobacco is known for causing Lung cancer and Pancreas cancer due to its carcinogens. Since Marijuana has most of the same carcinogens, Lung and Pancreas cancer are real possibilities for marijuana users. According to a study including mothers and new born infants, marijuana damages DNA as much as tobacco. American researchers have discovered that marijuana smokers have about three times as many DNA mutations as of non-marijuana users (“BBC News”). Dr. Ammenheuser, the head of the group recording the studies, stated "We did a test to detect changes in a particular gene in the DNA in their white blood cells, and found that the marijuana smokers had three times as many DNA damaged cells as the non-smokers” (“BBC News”).
You stated in the blog that money is the reason why the government is keeping marijuana illegal. You suggest how marijuana has a connection with money by stating that it eliminates petroleum as a fuel as well as poisonous petrochemicals, eliminates the paper/timber industry, eliminates 200 of the best selling pharmaceuticals, treats and cures too many diseases, and makes 50,000 commercial products. Once again, you had no source for these statements. I searched the internet to find such statements in other articles and web sites. After looking through the internet, I found no other website that suggested such statements.
The main reason you started this blog is to tell the world your opinion about the connection of marijuana and stupidity. There is a connection with marijuana and stupidity, but it’s not the connection that you had in mind. I suggest that you research marijuana and have a good idea about its health hazards before posting a blog about it. There are many articles on the internet to assist you in the research. Marijuana is hazardous; statistics, research, and many experiments prove it.

Second, Mr. Crow you obviously have never smoked, and whole heartedly believe the lies the government is spreading about the drug. I will use myself as an example to show you that marijuana does not cause "amotivational syndrome" and lower academic performance. I am a 21 year old female, and have smoked habitually for 2 years now. I am a senior at the University of Texas at Austin, and graduating a semester early with a BA in government. My GPA is over a 3.0. I also have interned in several Republican offices while in school, and my bosses agree that I'm an excellent employee. I am far from lazy, and far from dumb. In fact, while smoking marijuana I have rediscovered my creativity that I seemed to lose in academia. You might use my example to support your claim that marijuana is addictive, but legitimate SCIENTIFIC research shows marijuana IS NOT physically addictive like cocaine and heroine. I encourage you not to buy into the psduedoscience that characterizes marijuana as a dangerous, addictive drug. And I hope you understand how the government can take advantage of statistical correlations, and assign causality between two variables without experimental research.
I'm not sure how marijuana has affected my health, but it is not the government's role to regulate what I do or put into my body. By smoking marijuana, I am not harming anyone, but myself. The government began marijuana prohibition in order to protect public safety and curb addiction to drugs. Ask yourself if either of these things have been accomplished? Drug addiction is still a problem, and abusers are prosecuted. Our prison system does not rehabilitate these people effectively. Any kind of addiction is a medical problem, and should be treated as such. Alcohol is legal, yet it is highly addictive, and arguably more harmful than marijuana, and more of a gateway drug.
Furthermore, drugs are still available despite the laws. Our drug policy has created a wealthy and violent black market. I believe the current legislation is creating the violence associated with drugs because it forces users to participate in dangerous situations to just buy pot. We have to ask ourself are these law doing more harm to public safety, than good? And I think the answer is yes. So I want to make pot legal not only because I believe I should have the freedom to smoke it, but because it makes sense politically and economically. If marijuana transforms into a regulated business, we can do more to protect minors, and prevent violence that surrounds it. Plus, a tax on marijuana will create huge revenues that could be used for education. The only connection I can make between marijuana and stupidity is that many people like yourself who argue against it are misinformed. Morality arguments against marijuana are weak, and easily dissolved.
"There are more cancer-causing chemicals in marijuana than in any other substance presently known."
So logically thinking, shouldn't the majority of the baby-boom generation who grew up smoking pot have lung cancer?
Studies have also shown that cancerous brain tumors shrank more than 50% when given the medicine (THC).
Along with the fact that Marijuana MAY HAVE "cancer curing properties", there are ZERO (0) reported deaths caused by short or long term marijuana use. Cigarettes and Alcohol combined kill 500,000 times as many people in one year than marijuana has in its entire existence (or atleast since people started keeping track of such things).
You say there are many experiments to prove marijuana is dangerous? The last time I checked there haven't been many government funded marijuana experiments in the past 40 years and the ones that have been done have shown the great medicinal potential the HERB has.
Granted I don't believe that marijuana, (along with cigarettes and alcohol) should not be used by anyone under the age of 18 (alcohol 21 obviously). However, I do believe that marijuana is not a "drug" grouped with the likes of cocaine, heroin, or crystal meth. To me, a drug is something that someone must add dangerous additives to in order to get high.
With all that said, how ironic is it that the one thing the government criminalizes is the one thing that may cure or prevent cancerous cells? Just a thought.

Please help me to understand the effects of these illegal drugs on the children. I have called social services and nothing is done because they can't ever get probable cause to investigate this matter or so they say.
