If attempting to impeach the President of the United States isn't "Breaking News", then what is?

"If CNN would have covered this important event, Americans could have tuned into C-Span and understood the many crimes that the Bush administration has perpetrated against the American public.

It is the lack of knowledge of the general public that has allowed President Bush to break our laws with impunity!

It is the enabling of news sources such as CNN that are partially responsible for this criminal administration, and they share in the blame of the many crimes that President Bush is guilty of."

And of course there is ProgressNowAction.org

On Tuesday I sent an email to ProgressNow asking to have my posting about the AOL.com Impeachment Poll placed on the Front Page so that members would have the best chance of knowing about the new legislation to Impeach President Bush, and would have the opportunity to vote in the AOL.com Impeachment Poll while it was still news. We were ignored, but the very next posting was placed on the Front Page, though not near as important as an Impeachment.

If an impeachment resolution isn't something that should get on the Front Page I cannot imagine what would be. How much do these people Hate Our Constitution that they will suppress important political event news. I do not think the word Hate is inappropriate. They have made it very plain that impeachment advocates should just shut up and go away.

Is ProgressNow attempting to dumb-down their members? Keep them in the dark about Bush's crimes? Do they provide this website so Progressives can discuss issues or so they can manipulate the members?

It would have been nice to at least get a reply to our email message.

Impeachment may not occur but it will not fail because of the Republicans but because of the corruption within the Democratic Party and organizations such as this one.

Just to clarify

The impeachment resolution is on the front page:

The reason Mr. Kennedy isn't personally on our front page is pretty simple.

Link

We don't know what motivated this nonsensical posting, or dozens of other barely-intelligible rants from Mr. Kennedy that have dragged down the credibility of our front page and elicited numerous complaints, but we're under no obligation to subsidize them. Period.

If you really intend to go on mindlessly threatening Democrats (your friends whether your angst lets you see it or not) who won't support halting the important business of Congress to engage in impeachment proceedings that have ZERO CHANCE OF SUCCESS even if every Democrat were behind them, a mere six months before Bush leaves office anyway, please go ahead. You've got a forum right here in the All Network Posts.

Meanwhile, I will keep my attention focused on things that matter, like electing people who will ensure the depredations of the Bush administration are not allowed to happen again. If your interest was truly in the promotion of the common good instead of unserious bug-eyed theatrics, John, that's where you'd devote your considerable energies too.

Alan, while I often heartily disagree with John on impeachment and with you and your staff on the endless, mindless, and unproductive FOX news style articles you post yourselves, I agree fundamentally with John that you have selectively silenced a portion of progressive posters who may not agree with your positions or politics in progressive matters... and it does bear a strong resemblance to the muzzling of opposing voices practiced by the opposition, by making it more difficult to immediately find new posts from other bloggers. That's just the way it is and it's not very 'progressive.'

The top-line blog on the front page of this website right now is "24 Republicans vote for impeachment." We have not deleted any of this exchange. We are not "muzzling" anything or anyone, and I'm sorry you find items PNA staff occasionally post to be "mindless and unproductive FOX news style." Naturally, I'm inclined to disagree.

YOU demonize anyone you disagree with, just like the Far Right Republicans
By John H Kennedy Jun 11th 2008 at 3:11 pm MDT
Most members of ProgressNow thought this was a liberal and progressive website not an extension of some far right closed society where one has to watch what one says.

YOU demonize anyone you disagree with, just like the Far Right Republicans.

Like I said earlier..

"Is ProgressNow attempting to dumb-down their members? Keep them in the dark about Bush's crimes? Do they provide this website so Progressives can discuss issues or so they can manipulate the members?

It would have been nice to at least get a reply to our email message.

Impeachment may not occur but it will not fail because of the Republicans,

but because of the corruption within the Democratic Party and organizations such as this one."

I do not want to believe or write that last statement but I stand solidly behind it.

If you don't stand up to Cheney and Bush, if you don't support protecting Our Constitution, investigating the crimes against it and don't support impeachment for those crimes...
then Sir
you are No Patriot.

Our PNA group has done over 130 impeachment events in the last 14 months, more by far than any other PNA group.

Perhaps we should move them to the front door of ProgressNowAction.org?

The idea that we are now somehow comparable to "far right republicans," an "extension of some far right closed society," or even remotely interested in keeping visitors "in the dark about Bush's crimes," is the clearest evidence yet that you need professional help.

Believe me when I tell you that if I saw there was any meaningful purpose that could be achieved attempting to impeach Bush six months before he leaves office--being doomed to failure and therefore purely a symbolic gesture that would inevitably distract Congress from much more important matters only to be moot in January--I would support it. I've said so repeatedly, nicely, meanly, whatever.

But we're past that now, you jump right over any of reasonable discussion of these issues and reflexively conclude that anybody who doesn't see things your narrow way is "not a patriot" and "just like Far Right Republicans." Which is ridiculous, and where our conversation ends.

Mr. Kennedy, if you really--seriously--believe that the best way you can spend your time between now and November of this critical election year is to organize half-baked protests on our "front door," as opposed to anyone actually responsible for the many grievances you have and (importantly) we agree with you on, then I'm really sorry for you. It's a tremendous waste.
