No doubt, many of you have heard or read about Attorney General Gonzales absurd interpretation of the Constitution's habeas corpus provision. In short, the Attorney General, in a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, attempted to argue that there is really no such thing as habeas corpus. Does the Bush administration have any shame? Read John Dean's analysis of Gonzales' argument.

UPDATE:  You gotta love YouTube!  Here is Gonzales trying to explain his constitutional lunacy to Sen. Arlen Specter.

Well, what does Senator Salazar think of his "friend" Abu Gonzales?

Doubt it bothers Salazar much, since he was one of the senators who helped vote in the torture bill that eliminated habeas corpus.

Incompetent to Hold the Office
By Ralph T Jan 29th 2007 at 8:30 am MST
Two conclusions are evident in reading John Dean's writing: 1 - Alberto Gonzales is not competent to hold the office of US Attorney General, and 2 - Mr. Dean fully deserves the distinction of being a Republican defender of the Constitution and the American people against the abuses of the current occupant of the White House (coWH). Mr. Gonzales is clearly a political operative protecting the predetermined agenda of the coWH in defiance and disregard of the basic principles of the US Constitution.

The practice of "signing statements" and Mr. Gonzales' twisted policy towards Habeas Corpus reaches the level of Contempt of Congress, and further encourages calls for impeachment. In this case, I would fully support an action to remove this lackey from the circle of darkness that surrounds the coWH.

What more do we need to do? Guns are everywhere. What more do we need to do to show our elected officials that handguns are not safe? How many more people need to die in Columbine style rampages? What more do we need to do?
