The GOP is Playing to the Talibangelist Base
By Ralph T Jun 27th 2008 at 12:00 pm MDT
Here's direct evidence that American's can't believe the mainstream corporate media white-wash of the GOP ticket. The radical right wingNUTS are still swirling in Congress.

At this stage we can be thankful for the Democratic majority. There are not likely to be divisive and spectacular public hearings, grandstanding by wingNUT House sub-committee chairmen, or committee staff "leaking" inflammatory material to "faux-news” and other propaganda arms of the GOP.

In addition to the Senate Resolution there are three competing House Resolutions. No surprise that Marilyn Musgrave is a co-sponsor of two, or that the third has no co-sponsors. What is surprising is that neither Lamborn nor Tancredo have signed-on to either bill.

H.J.Res 22 has 22 co-sponsors and was assigned to a sub-committee on March 1 Link. MM's endorsement will assure her donations from the fear and smear crowd.

The second measure is a more accurate accounting of the wingNUT population of the House. AKA - a target list for House members deserving strong opposition.

H.J.Res 89 boasts 86 co-sponsors Link (including, of course, MM but not the other two Colorado radicals). It has only moved as far as the House Judiciary Committee. Without a sub-committee designation it's going no-where in 2008.

Bottom Line - We clearly know who the backwards hate-mongers are in Colorado and in the US Congress. The rosters of HJRes 22 and HJRes 89 co-sponsors provide a clear link to research the Democratic opponents and support their campaigns.

The religious fundamentalists that power the Grand Old Party most clearly shows through on trying to limit the intent of the Constitution's reach to all people. Rather than extending civil liberties to all people the religious right wants progressive change in America for the last two centuries to be overturned and the Constitution, in the words of Scalia, "For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God...The Lord repaid — did justice — through His minister, the state...That consensus has been upset, I think, by the emergence of democracy...The reaction of people of faith to this tendency of democracy to obscure the divine authority behind government should not be resignation to it, but the resolution to combat it as effectively as possible." is against the Lord.

What the religious right's Scalia, and Bush champion's as a paragon of justice, is the exact opposite of what our Constitution stands for.

The Constitution being amended to keep only heterosexuals in marriage is a remarkable piece of social engineering that has as a precedent the Prohibition.

Social engineering should be left out of the Constitution and history has shown that amending should be used to to expand the rights of all people.
