My Story: Jay Fawcett served his country as a military officer for over twenty years in the United States Air Force including combat duty in Operation Desert Storm for which he was awarded a Bronze Star. Jay was born in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania. He grew up in the small town of Monongahela where he became an Eagle Scout and was member of Grace Lutheran Church. He earned his commission from the United States Air Force Academy, including one semester on exchange at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. Jay has commanded squadron of over 400 personnel and a air control team of seventeen during combat operations including the initial helicopter assault into Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. Based on his experiences, Jay has published professional articles and developed training programs for the Department of Defense. He has international experience and provided support to various foreign air force organizations such as the RAF Air Warfare Centre, RAF JFAC Headquarters, Royal Norwegian Air Force, Luftwaffe, Royal Australian Air Force, and NATO. After leaving the Air Force, Jay continued his association with the military as a defense contractor and he and his wife Susan are small business owners. Jay and Susan have a daughter Elizabeth, 22, and son John, 16, and reside in Colorado Springs.
